Summer Travels

Well, I've been home for slightly over a month now and I'm getting ready to fly back to California for a week! I'm excited to see all my friends and old "hot-spots." I'll be getting back right at the start of August and then I'm off to Spain! Its been 2 years since my last visit and I'm bringing my boyfriend with me; Its his first time to Europe so I'm really excited to show him where my family is from (La Coruna). Plus we just had our apartment renovated and I haven't seen it yet, so I'm double excited.

On a separate note, check out the song "Baptized by Fire" by Spinnerette! its the last song on my playlist and I really like it!

On another separate note, I've been doing a lot of bike riding lately, if anyone knows a good trail other than Jones Beach at Cedar Creek Park or the Bethpage trail in Massapequa let me know!

Back in New York

So I took to writing in my journal again, that is why I haven't updated on here.

I'm back home in NY and things are up and down you could say. It is nice to be home, but I miss my friends in California and I miss my independence, I grew very accustomed to my life over there..

Oh yeah the drive back was great! I stopped in Vegas, Zion State Park, Grand Canyon, Denver, Topeka, Indianapolis, St. Lewis, Columbus.. and saw a bunch in between. The drive took me 5 and a half days, I went with my friend Deana, shes great I hadn't seen her in a full year so I was so glad she could come with me! (but she couldn't drive & I had to do all that).

Anyway.. I started a new painting today after dinner.. its on the smaller side (I think maybe 12x18). well here it is, let me know what you think of it so far.

Lastly! I set up my Etsy account you can get to here!

Kitchen Gallary?

I put up a bunch of paintings and prints in my kitchen :-) I really like it, that wall was too big and empty before!

So last week I was lucky enough to show my sister and her friends
around a little bit of CA, on Easter I went over to Golden Gate Park for the first time, and I didn't
realize that it would be full of druggies,
the homeless and hippies..
someone actually asked us for drugs! and their was a drum circle. well anyway, it was a nice day even though we were out of place - I was expecting more a central park feel, but its ok. After that we drove over to the actual bridge, here are some pictures (my sister is the lil' one)

2. I finished all the work I have due for 4 different class critiques. Booyah.

3. I just got discovered how great almond milk is! ...no seriously its EROTIC good.

..I'm going to take Laura & Chelsea around SF and down to Carmel, Santa Cruz.. since I got all my work done I'll have plenty of time to take them around!! its their first time in California and they will be here through Easter! If anybody has any great site-seeing suggestions send them my way!!

Pige

So I just wrapped up my latest video project, its a "swede" of the James Bond film, Goldfinger. I tried to keep it short, true to the original as well as have some humor.. anyway let me know if you like it (its posted to my youtube account).

Secondly, I've been working on some paintings in watercolor; its a new media for me, but I'm having a lot of fun with it, very different from oil paints. I decided to do these "pigeon/people," I've always thought pigeons were super funny, especially in NYC - this past summer I was having lunch in Battery Park and there were pigeons all over and I just started watching them.. started laughing by myself like some creeper. Ok well anyway these are my paintings :)

Reading

So a couple months ago I read the first chapter and a half of Twilight on my plane ride back to San Jose and then forgot about it until about a week ago. I just finished the book and I thought it was great, really entertaining! I'm not much of a critic though.. anyway, I plan to read the rest of the series and look forward to seeing the movie when its released to DVD. However, I wont get to read the second book untill my sister visits me next month.. SO in the meantime I'm looking for other books to read, if anyone has some suggestions send them my way!

also working on another project for my digital media class, look for it on youtube within the next week or so!

Update

So on Valentines Day I went to SFMOMA and to lunch and breakfast and all that fun stuff with my bf, he got me flowers and i got him some undies...but that's all besides the point. I woke up that morning with my eyes kinda irritated and decided I'd wear my glasses in place of my contacts, to prevent any further irritation! well the next day my eyes were a little worse, I went over to Longs and picked up some Visine drops for allergies, so 2 more days go by and my eyes are now bright red and swollen! I went to health clinic on campus and I confirmed my fear of... DOUBLE PINK EYE! anyway, I got some drops so my eyes should be fine in a few days.

...which is a very good thing, my parents and good friend are flying out from NY this weekend to visit and I don't want to be all sick looking. I think I'm going to take them to San Fran one day, Carmel the next day and spend one day in San Jose.

Sunny San Jose

Being back in San Jose is really great! 70 degrees in January, its just great. I realized how much I was going to miss it here when my semester is over. This is the first time I've been on my own, so I think I will always have some strange connection to San Jose now, I'm going to miss all the new little independent things I do here.. going food shopping, going to the bank, my little daily drives to work and school.. All the little dumb things :-P

The thing is once I leave I don't have much of a reason to come back, I mean San Jose isn't exactly a place one goes for vacation, and even If I wanted to come back to visit a couple friends It would be different. This semester I'm determined to make my last months here better than the first, I didn't go out all the much before and I haven't really experienced the surrounding Areas.. I'd like to take more trips to San Fran, and I was told to go to Big Sur too.. I need to start some planning!

Oh and check out this picture I took from the flight over here, it was such a clear night you could see all the way down nearly the whole way.
This was somewhere over Ohio, we flew real close to Chicago too, but it was a little more cloudy and all the lights just made the sky look orange.

Time Cliche

hmm.. you know how time always seems to go by super fast and yet at the same time it passes slowly? I can look back and analyze my break and say it feels like forever ago when I stepped off the plane, but in the same instance it also feels like I just got here.

Tonight got me thinking about time, I got together with some friends that were very close to me a few years ago, but I haven't seen or spoken with for a while.. It made me so sad to see how things have changed, not to say that I'm unhappy where I am or where I'm going. I guess I just wish I could go back to it once in a while, and then jump back to the present. I'm sure many people wish they could back in time, oh well.

Its too bad you can't ever experience something the same way twice.. even If I could go back, knowing my experiences would just make that same time different anyway.

..yeah well it was nice to reminisce, time is just so strange!

Discontented

Now that I'm home in NY I feel hollow? unsettled? discontented? definitely a little bit mixed up. I really missed being back home, but I think that I possibly created some glamorous image of what being home would be like...blah. Now that I'm here, I would much rather be back in California so I could just start missing NY again. This bothers me, because I know that I will be right back in NY once my student exchange is over in May - that means living with my parents. I hate that I cant afford my own place, I know that they will help me if I want to move out, but not being independent from them makes me feel guilty, like I owe them somthing.

..I geuss for now I should just try to look forward to getting back to school in California, I think if I organize myself I will feel much better about everything. I'll make a plan, and I need to start being healthier too.. maybe its all this holiday eating and being lazy that is bumming me out.

I want to say I feel a little better, but I'm just anxious to get back to San Jose and get started.
